Jewellery Care

While buying new jewellery is fun and exciting, it is important to take care of your jewellery in order to maintain that sparkle and shine loved by all. By following the simple steps below, jewellery care has never been easier.

Sterling Silver

All of the sterling silver jewellery sold by CharmMe is hallmarked 925 meaning the material is sturdy and does not require much cleaning. Although pure water does not damage sterling silver, most water we are exposed to is not purified therefore may contain harsh chemicals which can tarnish silver creating a dull appearance. We therefore advise taking off any jewellery prior to showering and swimming. Perfumes and lotions also contain chemicals therefore it is best to allow these to fully dry prior to putting on any jewellery to prevent unwanted tarnishing. CharmMe also suggests to remove silverware before exercising to prevent sweat tarnishing the jewellery. Any discoloured jewellery due to tarnishing can be polished using a microfibre cloth to bring the piece back to it's original condition.

Fashion Jewellery

We use high-quality materials in our jewellery, so our pieces require little maintenance. We recommend storing your plated jewellery in a soft pouch or box when not in use. Fashion jewellery should not be submerged and should have minimal exposure to water and chemicals. We recommend removing your pieces prior to sleeping, bathing, or partaking in strenuous activities such as exercise as any moisture will effect its longevity. Never spray perfumes directly onto the jewellery and ensure any lotions are completely dry before putting on jewellery as the harsh chemicals may damage the piece. To keep jewellery clean, use a lint free cloth, a microfibre cloth, or soft towel. Polish stones and crystals with a soft cloth to maintain their look.
